Marshalls youngsters got the chance to play on an Olympic stage at the weekend.

Invited by Leyton to play exhibition games at the Copper Box Arena, Marshalls took a mixture of girls from the under-12, under-13 and under-14 squads as the venue opened its doors once more.

Ellie Noble, Laura Burling, Megan Ruffell, Abbie Charles, Lauren Glover, Scarlett Jacks, Jess Empson, Grace Seal and Evie Thomas played a host of games against Leyton and Essex Open to help showcase netball under the guidance of coaches Jane King, Sarah and Sheila Maynard.

Marshalls’ Lauren King helped to umpire matches before all got the chance to watch action involving former England players and current Super League stars, as well as players from the England men’s team.

Sheila Maynard said: “They were mixed together in varying combinations and much fun was had by all concerned.

“We were very pleased with how the girls performed.”
