Raiders player-coach pleased with form

Romford Raiders player-coach Danny Marshall was more than happy with his side’s latest four-point weekend in the English National League.

Raiders followed a 6-2 success over MK Thunder with a 5-2 win at fierce rivals Invicta to keep their hopes of finishing second alive.

They visit Essex rivals Chelmsford on Saturday, before hosting Oxford at Rom Valley Way and Marshall said: “Going into the play-offs, we’re looking good.

“Chelmsford is a big game for us, but if we can win there we will have pretty much claimed second place.

“I’d be delighted with second in our first year. We’ve only just missed out on the league but if we turn Chelmsford over it’ll look good for us going into the play-offs.”

Marshall was left feeling sore after an awkward collision on Saturday, but battled through the pain to find the net against the Dynamos and cap his side’s latest success.

He added: “I got a kick in the ribs on Saturday.

“The Milton Keynes player fell over as he went to hit me and his skate cracked me in the ribs.

“I don’t think it’s broken, just badly bruised, and it hurts less when you win!”
