Player-coach happy with three points
Romford Raiders player-coach Danny Marshall was happy enough with his side’s three-point haul in the English National League last weekend.
Raiders looked on course for a derby win against Chelmsford on Saturday, only to concede an equaliser with six seconds left.
“To lose it like that in the final few seconds is hard to swallow,” said Marshall.
“The puck took a lucky bounce for them, so what can you do?
“Chelmsford have been a bit lucky in both games against us, but I’m sure we will turn them over. We should’ve won on Saturday, but there are two games left against them and we can still get the upper hand.”
Marshall netted four times in Oxford the following night, while new Slovakian import Juraj Huska added a brace of goals as the pair showed a good early understanding in a 7-4 triumph.
“We started a bit shaky, but got ourselves together and did a job,” added Marshall.
“Glen [Jackson] needed a game and I always had it in mind to play him in Oxford. They’re not a walkover team and he stepped up and did a good job, like I knew he would.”
