Romford youngster adds to karting collection
Romford’s Matt Luff makes his debut at the Midland Champ event at Rissington this weekend, after enjoying more success on the track last weekend.
The Brentwood School pupil teamed up with Jack Goldsmith to easily win the latest round of the six-hour endurance competition at Kent’s Buckmore Park circuit, finishing more than a lap clear of 19 other teams to clinch the title with one round to spare.
And with eight wins now to their name in the three and six-hour events, the Brentwood Banta team – which also includes Conrad Collinson – have secured their place as UK representatives at the World finals next year.
The trio are now focused on becoming the first-ever UK team to have success at the world level, which would earn automatic entry into the legendary 24-hour Le Mans race.
Luff, Goldsmith and Collinson are due to compete in a charity event at the Brentwood Raceway tonight (Friday) in support of the Air Ambulance.
They will take on teams that include VIP drivers such as Nick Hamilton, brother of Formula One world champion Lewis, Ayrton Simmons of Formula Four and David Pittard of Team Brit 24 Hour.
Luff was also nivited to take part in Chris Evans’ Car Fest Event last month as one of their top raffle prizes, along with the likes of Craig David.
One hour of one-to-one tuition with the youngster at the award-winning Brentward Raceway was on offer for the cost of a £10 raffle ticket, with all proceeds going to the BBC’s Children in Need.
