Player-coach on brink of greatness

Romford Raiders captain Anthony Leone is backing Danny Marshall to make history this weekend.

Player-coach Marshall needs four points to overtake the legendary Gord Jeffrey and become the highest scorer in club history.

Streatham are the visitors to Rom Valley Way on Sunday, having suffered a 10-1 defeat at the hands of Romford last weekend.

Marshall scored one goal and three assists in the first period of that meeting and Leone expects Raiders to pile on the misery for the Redskins again and Marshall to make his historic mark.

He said: “They will be coming out all guns blazing this weekend, but we’ve got the bodies to cope.

“Danny will definitely get four points this weekend!

“He’s definitely want to do it at home and will probably play the whole game if he has to - instead of 85 per cent of it!

“I remember looking up to him when we were kids and he has been one of the best around for years.”

Frankie Harvey added: “It’ll be good to see Danny do it. He’s been a great servant and hopefully we can help him light it up again.”
