Lakeside Hammers promoter Jon Cook has confirmed that the club wants to return to the top flight league next season.

The Vortex Hammers dropped out of the Elite League, now known as the Premiership, at the end of the 2016/17 season and went into the National League for the 2017/18 season.

After just one season the club is already looking to make a return.

Cook told the Speedway Star: “Realistically, the only option for us is to run back in the top league and it should be there because our landlords are aware of the dates when we need to be able to confirm everything.

“We have asked if we can attend the pre-AGM as observers rather than taking part to see what team strengths are going to be and that’s our aim, to obviously put speedway back to where it was in the top league.”

Cook is hoping to tell fans more details about their 2018 plans at the last meeting of the season.
