New Slovakian forward agree terms
Romford Raiders have agreed terms with Slovakian forward Juraj Huska.
And the Rom Valley Way club are hoping the 28-year-old Huska will have his paperwork processed in time to play in Saturday’s Essex derby against Chelmsford.
Huska starred for Telford during the 2006/7 English Premier League season, top-scoring 32 goals and 23 assists in 42 appearances for the then-named Wildfoxes.
He has also played in North America and France, having spent much of his junior career with HKM Zvolen, the team which also produced Jozef Sladok.
Huska trained with his new teammates last night and will replace Lithuanian Al Visockas in the line-up.
A team spokesman said: “Juri skated with us at the tail end of last year, but we had a few irons in the fire at the time and eventually plumped for Darius Pliskauskas.
“Juri will definitely increase Danny Marshall’s offensive options and freshen up the team generally.
“We’re very serious about being a competitive force in this division so the Sundays-only situation with Al was never going to continue without some movement.
“Juri demonstrates that we still intend to be challenging for honours. Al has done nothing wrong so we’ll keep three imports on the books and he will be available for selection if we need him.”
