Jack’s coming back to Raiders

Youngster has agreed to stay with old junior system coach Alan Blyth for 2015/16 campaign
London Raiders have announced the return of another young player for the 2015/16 National League season, days after it was confirmed Stevie Dunnage and TJ Fillery would be staying with the club that finish eighth last year.
Jack Cooper has agreed to sign for his old junior system coach Alan Blyth as the Lee Valley-based outfit look to achieve success in the upcoming campaign.
The youngsters signing ensures the Raiders add yet another Romford trained player as they assemble a squad of a distinctively home grown flavour.
A club statement said: “Jack worked his way through most of the Romford junior age groups and had a brief spell at Haringey after the closure of Rom Valley Way.
“Jack joined at the troubled end of last season and proved to be an immediate success. There were those that suspected bringing players from NIHLS2 would not provide the standard required to succeed at NIHLS1 but Jack proved all doubters were way off track as his ability immediately assisted, bolstering the blue line.
“At just 18 there were also questions raised regarding experience and again he answered all those and became a regular on special teams. Jack was initially trained as a forward and that background was very evident with his ability to employ a rushing style and his production on the powerplay unit.
“Clearly a popular signing as Jack completed the season with newcomer of the year at April’s awards evening. We suspect that will not be the last award he picks up in the coming seasons.
“Jack joins what promises to be one of the stronger Raiders teams in recent years and the management and coach, whilst delighted to see him return, suspect the fan base will be even happier. Welcome back Jack.”
Cooper joins captain Tom Davis, David Oliver, goalie Michael Gray, import Michal Oravec, Alan Lack, Mason Webster, Seb Downing, Bailey Chittock, Stevie Dunnage and TJ Fillery on the growing roster for the new season.
