Raiders look for revenge

ENL Division 1

Streatham v Romford Raiders (4.30pm)

Romford Raiders v Isle of Wight (5.15pm)

Having seen their 14-game unbeaten run come to an end on the Isle of Wight last weekend, Danny Marshall’s Raiders will be gunning for revenge as the leaders come to Rom Valley Way on Sunday.

But first of all, Romford have to find a way past Streatham tomorrow.

Redskins took the lead after only seven seconds of their recent meeting in south London, but a shortbenched Raiders hit back for a 3-2 win, their 13th in succession.

Marshall put his side ahead on the island, but it was to prove a frustrating day for Slovakian hotshot Juraj Huska, who must have fired the majority of Romford’s 42 shots at Matt Colclough, but could not find the net.

Huska hit the crossbar and missed a last-gasp chance to level, after Steve Gosset and Jason Gorrie had put Wight 2-1 up.

But he was back on target the next night as lowly Bristol put up a fight in a 6-2 defeat.

JJ McGrath also netted on his return from a three-game suspension and will add muscle to the line-up for the rematch with the ‘other’ Raiders.

First place is not a mathematical impossibility yet, so Romford will look to keep their winning habit going as the race for the play-offs begins to hot up.
