South East Trophy: Invicta 4 Romford 4

Juraj Huska’s late powerplay goal earned Raiders a share of the spoils in Kent last night.

Slovakian Huska netted with two minutes 29 seconds remaining in the match, after Dynamos import Justin Noble was binned for tripping.

And the trophy holders must now get the better of the Isle of Wight in their home and away meetings to book a final date with Chelmsford in the new year.

The gloves came off early on, with Nathaniel Rose attacking Raiders captain Julian Smith before Peter Vaisanen and Andrius Kaminskas traded blows.

Former Romford junior Callum Fowler put Invicta in front and set up Andy Smith to make it 2-0 on the powerplay within a minute of the second period.

Shaun Yardley replied for Raiders, but Fowler and former Raider Nicky Lewis beat Shane Kemp in quick succession to give the home side a 4-1 lead.

Matt Turner hit back before the second interval and a powerplay goal from Danny Marshall, after an interference call against Adam Copland, cut the gap to one.

Huska and Vaisanen were binned with minor penalties soon after but the Raiders forward had the final say with his late equaliser.

Romford travel to the Isle of Wight on Saturday, before hosting the MK Thunder in a league match at Rom Valley Way on Sunday (5.15pm).
