McBride fears for Millers meeting

Hornchurch chairman Colin McBride does not hold out much hope for his side’s Ryman Premier Division derby against Aveley next Monday (December 27).

With the UK shivering under a blanket of snow, McBride admist next week’s Bank Holiday encounter is already in serious doubt.

He said: “The way the forecast is, I can’t see there being any chance of the Aveley game being played.

“We’re desperate to get it on and forecasts do change a bit, but they’re saying there’s more snow coming later in the week.

“We’ll definitely try and get it on, but it’s not looking too clever.”

Urchins are scheduled to play Concord in the Essex Senior Cup tomorrow night, but McBride says another postponement is a formality.

“I’m not even thinking about tomorrow. It’s got no chance,” he said.

Romford fans are awaiting news on their side’s Ryman League Cup tie at Dulwich tomorrow, but will not be holding out much hope of action this side of Christmas either.
