Romford's women celebrate their win

Romford’s women were able to celebrate their best result of the Essex League Division Two season after beating leaders East London fifths.

Leah Butcher, Lorraine Farnham and Emma James were on target in the 3-1 success at Robert Clack, which saw East London knocked off top spot.

And Romford will hope to build on their triumph and hopefully climb into the top half of the table when they play host to Colne this weekend.

The men were left without a fixture in East League Five South East, after Harlow’s withdrawal from the competition, but the seconds romped to a big win.

Jim Venus proved the start of the show in a 9-0 success over Southend thirds in Division Eight, helping himself to a five-goal haul.

And Andi Peart added a brace, as Tom Woodman and Dave Banting also struck.

The thirds drew 5-5 with London Royals, but the women’s seconds lost 4-2 at Upminster sixths.
