Romford’s men were trying to draw on the positives after picking up points in their latest East League outings at the weekend.

The first team travelled to lowly Thurrock in Division Five South East, where Ashley Meyer found the target in a 1-1 draw.

And that left them four points adrift of leaders Plashet, ahead of a home derby with Upminster thirds this weekend.

The seconds saw Dave
Butcher score twice as their Division Eight derby with mid-table rivals Brentwood Academy also ended all square at 2-2.

But the thirds lost 2-1 at Waltham Forest Otters in Division Two and the women went down by the same margin against Southend & Benfleet seconds in their Essex League Division Two encounter.

Romford host Havering thirds tomorrow (Saturday), while the seconds travel to Chelmsford sevenths after a 4-0 home loss to Wapping eighths, their sixth in a row.
