Romford’s women had two good reasons to celebrate in the Essex League last weekend.

The firsts won 6-0 against an understrength Havering thirds, as Leah Butcher and player of the match Emma James netted two goals each.

Katie Williams and Lorraine Farnham were also on target, while Martin Purton took Havering’s player of the match award as Freya Rossington Trottman also worked hard.

Romford seconds claimed their first win of the season against Chelmsford sevenths, with Emily Seetannah and Olivia Kelly scoring in the 2-0 success that ended a 16-match losing run.

The men romped to a 7-1 win over Clacton seconds in East Five South East to keep their promotion hopes alive, with a trip to Upminster thirds tomorrow week (March 24).

But the seconds slumped to a 7-0 loss at Braintree thirds in Division Eight, with a home match against Southend thirds up next.
