Crunch time for local clubs

Premier A

Bishop’s Stortford v Havering (1.30pm)

Anything less than a win will condemn Havering to the bottom two.

Defeats against Cambridge University and Ipswich last weekend left them bottom of the pile, three points behind Stortford.

And Havering now have only two games left to play this season, while Stortford still have five.

Honours finished even at 3-3 when these two sides met at Campion in late November, but Havering have taken only two points from 10 games since that date and now find themselves on the brink of relegation.

Division 1

Upminster v Broxbourne (1pm)

The relegation issue in this division could go down to the wire with only five points currently separating four clubs in the bottom half of the table.

Ipswich’s fate has already been secured and Bedford look set to join them, but the third spot is still to be determined.

One of Pelicans (21 points), Felixstowe (24), Upminster (25) and Ford (26) could yet slip through the trap door, although Nick Payne’s Upminster have a game in hand on their rivals.

But they host a Broxbourne side this weekend, who won 2-1 when these sides met earlier in the season and are still pushing for promotion and maybe even the title.

Division 4SE

Romford v Old Southendians II (1pm)

Romford could ensure their survival with victory at Robert Clack this weekend.

They moved seven points clear of the bottom three with victory at basement boys Witham last weekend, with four games still to play.

And another success over Southendians might be enough, although they lost 2-1 when these sides met earlier in the season.

Romford’s women, meanwhile, could clinch the Essex Division Two title with victory over nearest rivals Basildon 4ths. They are unbeaten in all 19 games played to date this season.
