Havering hope for more success

Saturday

East Premier A

Wapping v Havering (3pm)

Paul Johnson’s Havering climbed off the bottom of the table with a 3-2 win over Ipswich at Campion last weekend.

Adam Lumbers scored twice from short corners, after Chris Dunn cancelled out Ipswich’s opener.

But Johnson has warned their success will count for little if they slip up against a Wapping side still searching for their first win of the season.

He said: “All of that hard work becomes irrelevant if we allow Wapping to close the gap on us. We must be ready for it.”

Division 1

Upminster v Waltham Forest (2.30pm)

Bottom meets top at Coopers as struggling Upminster host the leaders.

Nick Payne’s side fell to a 3-1 defeat at unbeaten March Town last weekend, having broken their duck a week earlier against Ipswich 2nds.

Forest, meanwhile, beat Bedford 2-0 to remain ahead of Peterborough on goal difference at the summit.

Division 4SE

Havering II v Romford (2.30pm)

Romford make the short trip to Campion to take on Havering in a derby.

And James Hibbard’s men could do with a lift, following their 4-0 home defeat against Harlow last weekend.

Havering currently occupy third place, after they were held to a 1-1 draw at Brentwood 3rds.

Another loss for Romford will leave them looking over their shoulders at the relegation zone.
