Pupils from Gidea Park College produced some fine performances at the Havering Sports Collective’s Hi-5 Netball tournament this week.

The competition took place at Hornchurch High School (formerly The Albany School) and the Gidea Park girls drew their first two matches with Langtons (1-1) and Ardleigh Green (0-0).

And after losing to Oakfields (3-0), the girls – coached by Sarah Jenkin – ended on a winning note with a 3-0 victory over St Peters.

That was enough to see the year six pupils – from the independent, co-educational school for children aged three to 11 based in Balgores Lane – finish in third place in their group.

And teacher Michael Christiansen said: “The girls played with a lot of passion and also earned themselves the award for sportsmanship and respect. They learned a lot about playing netball on a full-size court.”
