Fourth place for netball and badminton
Havering’s netball squad had to settle for fourth place after torrential rain ruined their competition.
They beat Harrow (7-0), Southwark (14-0), Camden (4-3) and Bexley (11-1), before a tense 5-5 draw with Croydon.
But no further play was possible and they were awarded fourth place, with Viv Allaway saying: “We were really disappointed as the team was playing extremely well and we felt we had a real chance of a medal. Now we will have to wait until next year to try again!”
The badminton squad reached the semi-finals for the fourth time in five years, after a 4-1 win over Newham and 3-2 defeats to Croydon and Sutton.
But eventual champions Redbridge proved too strong and havering were edged out 3-2 by Kingston in the third-place play-off.
The archery squad finished ninth, while the girls tag rugby team were 11th and the cycling squad ended up 14th.
Brock Whiston took 50m breaststroke silver, missing out on gold by 0.03secs, as the girls squad finished 23rd, while the boys were 19th.
