Havering Sports Council reveal finalists

Upminster Golf Club to stage awards night once again
Havering Sports Council have revealed the finalists in their annual awards, with winners to be named at Upminster Golf Club on February 8.
Mayor of Havering Cllr Brian Eagling will be in attendance at the presentation evening – supported by McDonalds Restaurants of Romford – and winners will receive a cheque for £50 as well as a year’s free membership to Everyone Active Leisure Centres.
This year’s finalists are – Junior male competitor (sponsored by McDonalds Restaurants of Romford): Oliver Beadle (tennis); Ben Calder (badminton); Kareem Jerome (athletics).
Junior female competitor (sponsored by West & Coe Funeral Directors): Eloise Goodwin (ice skating); Michelle Hughes (athletics); Emma Nichols (ice hockey).
Competitor (sponsored by MDS Printers Ltd, Upminster): Faye Fullerton (athletics); Denis Reed (disabled sports); Jordan Sargeant (tennis).
Volunteer (sponsored by Cllr John Mylod): Bob & Julie Griffiths (cycling); Keith Mitchell (cricket); Sue Pollard (tennis).
Senior School team (sponsored by Brentwood M & E Services Ltd): Coopers Coborn intermediate girls’ athletic team; Coopers Coborn junior girls’ athletic team; Marshalls Park Y7/8 girls rugby team.
Primary School team (sponsored by Cllr Melvin Wallace): Ardleigh Green Y5/6 athletics team; St Edwards basketball team; St Edwards water polo team.
Sports Club (sponsored by Havering Sailing Club): Eagles Badminton Club; Hornchurch Cricket Club; Ultima Trampoline Club.
The Doug Riden Lifetime Achievement award will also be presented on the night. Roy Smith, of Hornchurch CC, was last year’s winner.
