Women record first win of season

Havering’s women had reason to cheer after recording their first win of the East League season at the weekend.

Vicky Lynch netted twice, with Emma Isherwood also on target in a 3-2 victory at Southend, which lifted Havering off the bottom of the table.

The men’s first team won 2-0 at Peterborough 3rds as the club claimed 18 out of a possible 21 points overall on the day.

Upminster’s men maintained their good early season form with a 4-1 win at Chelmsford 2nds in Division Two South.

But the women fell to a 3-1 home defeat against West Herts in their Premier Division encounter at Coopers.

There were contrasting fortunes also for Romford’s men and women.

The men fell to a 7-4 home defeat against Waltham Forest 2nds in Division Four, but the women hit rivals Thurrock 2nds for six in their Essex Division One clash at Robert Clack.

Abi Gowers and Sevim Hodge netted two goals apiece, with Rhian Davies and Sonata Sliuzaite completing the tally.
