Havering youngsters collected two team silvers as the 2016 London Youth Games got underway with the cross-country event at Parliament Hill.

Jacob Blanc was seventh overall in the under-11 boys’ race in five minutes 52 seconds, with Matthew Hick (5.57) and Billy Tutley (6.18) completing the team scoring.

And the under-15s also won silver, with Thomas Keevil (11.04), Yusuf Bizimana (11.16) and Samuel Atkins (11.44) their first three finishers.

A big group of Havering club athletes competed for the borough at the event, rather than the latest Essex League fixture, and Ben Davis was sixth in the under-17 boys’ race in 17.52.
