Youngsters cruise into Youth Games finals

Havering’s badminton squad are hoping it’s a case of third time lucky after storming into the London Youth Games finals at the weekend.

The borough squad topped their qualifying group at Redbridge, after three convincing wins, to book their place at Crystal Palace on June 30.

And they will be going for gold, having finished second for the past two years.

Team manager Amanda Austin said: “Havering did really well at the qualifying event and made sure of a convincing performance.

“They have all worked really hard and hopefully they will achieve the reward they deserve. We are looking forward to the finals at Crystal Palace!”

Havering beat Kingston, Southwark and City of London by 5-0 margins and their squad included: Coco Zhang, Bethany Law, Abbie Wallis, Katie Nicholls, Paige Beaumont, Sam Hampton, Robert Clark, Felix Ngooi, Adam Tripp and Oliver Bowry.
