Youngster nets brace after injury
Romford Raiders youngster Frankie Harvey was quick to make his mark after injury at the weekend.
Harvey, 18, had missed three games with a shoulder problem but scored twice in the opening few minutes against Streatham at Rom Valley Way on Sunday.
He could not add any more goals to his early brace, but helped set up others for Juraj Huska and Tom Davis in a comfortable 10-1 English National Leaguae success.
“I had it strapped up and it didn’t feel too bad,” said Harvey.
“It felt alright on the first shift, but was aching a bit when I came off.
“[Physio] Sam [Taylor] tried to persuade me to stay off, but I went out and scored on the next shift and the adrenalin pumped in.”
Harvey’s second goal turned out to be his 50th league point for Raiders, in only his 53rd appearance, after breaking into the squad during last season’s English Premier League campaign.
And he is hoping for more when the Redskins return for a second visit this Sunday (5.15pm).
“We had a run of tight games a little while back, but it was good to give the crowd something to cheer about,” he said.
“We knew they were a few players short and a few of them said it would be a different story this week, but we’ll see.”
