Harold Wood captain Craig Perrin knows it’s now time for his team to start turning their fortunes around as they head into the second half of the Hamro Foundation Essex League season.

The Harold Wood Park outfit currently sit second from bottom in the Premier Division just three points ahead of Billericay.

And they host sixth place Hadleigh & Thundersley on Saturday after seeing their last match cancelled due to poor weather conditions.

“You can’t control the weather, but we’ve got an opportunity this weekend to get our season moving in the right direction, as it’s been disappointing for us so far to date,” Perrin said.

“A few games could have gone another way, but we need to start bringing it all together and getting a few wins on the board.

“We’re very confident we’ve got the team to be able to do so.”

He added: “We’re only halfway through, we have another half to go at this stage, we’d clearly like to be in a better position than we are currently but most of the games we’ve only lost by narrow margins.

“Turning a few of those around would mean we’re in a very different place in the league table.

“We’ve got a good enough team to get wins at this level but we need to go out there and prove it.”

The two sides met on the opening day of the season where Hadleigh sealed a 23-run victory after posting a score of 236-6 before Wood could only muster up 213-9 in reply.

“Hadleigh are a good side, we had a good game against them on the first day of the season, which was a narrow defeat for ourselves," added Perrin.

“We’re confident that it’s going to be another good game and hopefully we can come out on the right side of it.”

Harold Wood go into the match on the back of a weekend off after having their clash with Chingford cancelled due to the poor pitch conditions.

“Frustrating afternoon, sitting around for hours and trying to make the ground dry, it’s a game that we wanted to get on,” said Perrin.
