Sylvester plays in ‘tough’ four-team tournament

Romford’s Abbie Sylvester and Great Britain’s under-18 women found the going tough in a four-team event in Sheffield at the weekend.

They lost 7-1 to Hungary and 6-1 to Spain and then let a two-goal lead slip in a 4-2 defeat against Poland.

Mum Jo said: “It was tough for what is a very young side, but it was a good learning curve for them and good for the team to spend time together.

“It will not be so daunting for them when they travel to Austria in January. We’ve just got to see if Abbie is selected now!”

Sylvester flies out to Finland for a tournament with England under-16s on December 11.
