Shenfield High School’s under-12 girls fell short and finished runners-up in their National Cup Final after a 2-1 loss at the hands of Thomas Telford.
The girls went to the FA’s headquarters in St George’s Park, Staffordshire, for the final and came away disappointed with the defeat.
But they were pleased their efforts throughout the cup tournament and PE teacher Garry Sapsford said: “To be crowned National Cup runners-up is a huge achievement.
“To push Telford all the way despite the injury problems that have beset the squad recently is a real achievement our girls and parents can be very proud of.
“They are such a dedicated and passionate group of sports lovers that I know they will do all they can to come back to another National final and go one better.
“Watch this space with this group of girls, they will be very successful in a range of sports, especially football for years to come.”
