Marshalls Park’s year nine boys got the better of local rivals Royal Liberty on a wet and miserable Monday.

The home side went ahead through Freddie Potts, who saw his 20-yard free-kick nestle in the bottom corner.

But Liberty quickly replied with a well-worked goal down the left getting them on terms and a through ball was tapped in by their striker to put them ahead before half time.

Park came out for the second half in determined mood and dominated play, though, and drew level through Harding.

They moved 3-2 up when one of their players tapped home from close range and the Park goal was rarely threatened in the second half.

They could have made added to their tally late on, but Harding spurned a one-on-one chance.

PE teacher Paul Aylett said: “We made hard work of it, but got the three points. We now need to win our remaining games to qualify for the semi finals.”
