Romford pupils to represent club at Premier League School’s final
Frances Bardsley’s under-13 girls’ football team came out on top at the West Ham Foundation’s Premier League Schools’ regional competition at Beckton.
The Romford pupils went through as winners of their group to face Albany in the quarter-finals, winning 1-0, and the beat Cumberland by a 4-0 margin in the last four, where top scorer Christyana Kyriacou scored a hat-trick.
That set up a final meeting with Brampton Manor, where a strong defensive performance and great goalkeeping by Khalissa Okewole helped to secure a 2-0 victory, meaning Frances Bardsley conceded just one goal on the day.
They will now go on to represent West Ham at the National finals at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge ground in May.
Frances Bardsley’s under-14s, meanwhile, will go for glory in the Essex Cup final against Eastwood at Lakeside FC on Friday (4pm).
