Guest speaker at Monday night meeting

The next meeting of the Romford Referees’ Society will see Dave Ward, Sports Editor of the Essex Chronicle, appearing as guest speaker.

A former professional with Luton Town, Ward dropped into the non-League game and played for Wisbech Town, where he then resided, Stevenage Athletic and Braintree Town.

Ward made over 500 appearances in 18 years at Cressing Road and spent three years as manager.

He also spent three years to become a journalist and qualified as a referee, officiating in both junior and senior matches.

Noted for his grasp of refereeing matters and constructive reporting of officiating issues Ward will share his views on a variety of football topics at Harold Wood Sports Pavilion on Monday (April 2).

The meeting starts at 8pm and is open to all local referees and others considering taking up the whistle. Admission is free.
