Romford described as ‘hive of sporting activities’ by MyLocalPitch co-founder Jamie Foale

MyLocalPitch’s ‘Outstanding London Sports Venue’ award for April has been given to PlayFootball Romford and was presented to them on Monday.

PlayFootball launched with the mission of getting Britain playing football to help people stay active and lead healthy, happy lives.

Participation is at the heart of the PlayFootball mantra and the Romford venue is a superb example of the commitment to the cause.

A recent report from London Sport reveals that 38.4 per cent of people play sport in Havering and that the borough is home to 358 facilities.

There are a host of competitive five-a-side leagues that are all officiated by FA qualified referees who adhere to the FA’s rules and regulations. At the end of each campaign there is a trophy and medals for the victors.

All the pitches are the highest quality 3G surfaces that are surrounded by rebound boards to keep play moving and in turn push those fitness levels. Since launching, Pro Direct, Gatorade and Fosters have all come on board as partners to enhance the playing experience.

Anyone just wanting a kick about without the competitive edge can hire a pitch with friends or work colleagues for as little as £3 per player. PlayFootball will even help source a player from a database should you suffer a late drop-out before a big game.

The award, which is determined by MyLocalPitch users, was based on pitch quality, venue amenities and customer experience. MyLocalPitch is a platform for sports players who want to find and book sports venues in London. Users have the choice of over 1,000 venues for 16 featured sports.

Jamie Foale, co-founder of MyLocalPitch, said: “PlayFootball’s effort to encourage and develop active lifestyles resonates with MyLocalPitch’s ambitions and PlayFootball Romford deserves all the plaudits for its results.

“Romford is a hive of sporting activity and our users love the community spirit that caters for friendly games or more competitive formats.”

Stewart Coggin, marketing manager at PlayFootball, added: “PlayFootball Romford is delighted to accept this award from MyLocalPitch.

“Romford is one of our most popular venues and to get this recognition from users of MyLocalPitch is something the staff here are very proud of.

“We will strive to continue delivering the best football experience possible to the players who come to train and play here each week.”

MyLocalPitch will be presenting an award to a stand out sports venue each month based on the feedback from its users. To find out more about the award or how to sign up to MyLocalPitch please visit www.mylocalpitch.com
