ESC: Concord 2 Hornchurch 3

Two-goal Jack Barry led Romford to the Ryman One North points at Heybridge tonight, while Hornchurch hit back from two goals down at Concord in the Essex Senior Cup to clinch a quarter-final spot.

Delayed en route to Scraley Road due to an accident on the A12, Boro fell behind in the opening minutes as Tom English struck from the penalty spot.

Alex Read levelled in the seventh minute, but a second spot-kick from English put Swifts, who had relieved manager Wayne Bond of his duties earlier in the day, ahead for a second time.

Barry got Boro back on level terms soon after and his header, seven minutes after the restart sealed victory for Paul Martin’s men.

Hornchurch conceded twice in the first quarter of an hour as Tony Stokes and Harry Elmes put Concord on top.

But Rickie Hayles replied six minutes before the break and Jonathan Hunt levelled from the spot midway through the second half.

Then, with 11 minutes remaining, Dave Collis struck a winner for Jimmy McFarlane’s men to earn them a trip to Heybridge in the last eight.
