Urchins looking for win against Hamlet

Hornchurch captain Elliot Styles believes his side can secure three points when they host Dulwich Hamlet on Saturday.

The visitors currently sit third in the Ryman Premier Division while the Urchins are 22nd following Tuesday’s 2-0 win over Canvey Island.

The defender feels the club’s recent home form should stand them in good stead at the weekend.

“We like to think we can beat Dulwich. We’ve made our ground a bit of a fortress in recent weeks,” said Styles.

“Dulwich lost to VCD Athletic recently so that will gives us confidence. They also started well last year before tailing off, so that will give us confidence they might do the same again.”

The midweek win over Canvey Island was just the Bridge Avenue side’s second win in their last seven matches,

Victory in that game was even more important following a defeat to fellow battlers Witham Town in the Urchins last game.

And Styles says the team will keep on going in their bid to survive relegation to the Ryman North.

“Every point counts during the run-in, we don’t want to go down without a fight,” he added.

“We don’t want to lose our status in this league so we will keep fighting right until the very end.”
