Elsewhere, Boro’s scheduled pre-season match at Great Yarmouth Town on Saturday has been cancelled.

A message on the Bloaters Twitter account read: “For safety reasons, due to the unavoidable dry and hard conditions of the pitch despite some watering, Saturday’s scheduled pre-season game vs Romford has been cancelled.”

Martin moved quickly to sort out another match and they will take on former league rivals Ware this weekend instead.

Craig Edwards will bring a team to Fords Sports & Social club for a 2pm kick-off on Saturday.
