Backlog no concern for Martin

Romford boss Paul Martin is backing his squad to cope with a fixture pile-up in 2011.

Boro are hoping to play Ryman One North rivals Ilford on Monday, but would still have 26 league games to play and are still in the hunt for league cup honours.

Martin’s men visit Dulwich in a last 16 tie, which has twice been postponed this month.

He said: “Our squad is good enough for me to rotate, so it’s nothing to be concerned about.

“A few boys have been playing for other teams to get games and we’ve got Chris Barry and Jimmy Noakes to come back in the new year.

“The attitude of the boys has been fantastic. Last year they would’ve been glad to hear training had been cancelled, but this year that’s not the case.

“They’re all growing up in the Ryman League and it shows how we’re progressing.

“We would’ve hit our 40 point target before Christmas if we’d played a few of these [postponed] games. Once we do reach 40 points, any result after that will be a bonus.”
