Ryman Div 1N Preview: Waltham Abbey v Romford
Chris Barry has re-signed for Romford and will return to the squad for their trip to Capershotts tonight.
Manager Paul Martin revealed the news today, having seen his side slip to a2 2-1 derby defeat at Brentwood on Tuesday.
He said: “Chris has signed and is back. We need to steady the ship and he’s comfortable on the ball with a good delivery at dead balls.
“He said he would help us as we’ve got a few knocks and work commitments at the moment.”
Sam Bantick’s 85th-minute goal sent Boro to defeat at Brentwood, after Nick Reynolds had cancelled out the home side’s opener.
Defeat came on the back of a 2-0 win at Burnham on Saturday, but Martin was far from convinced by his side and hopes they can raise their game against Abbey.
He added: “It was an ugly win, I didn’t think we deserved anything but we got the three points so I can’t complain.
“It was disappointing as a manager to watch, but we haven’t played well for a month.
“We’ve been nicking wins but Tuesday showed it was coming.
“I was spitting feathers after and went straight home. It was my 300th game and I didn’t even go to the bar after.
“It was a derby, our arch rivals and they were third from bottom, so to lose was a kick in the teeth.
“I don’t like playing Waltham Abbey either. They’re awkward. But hopefully I’ll be in a better mood tomorrow morning than I was on Wednesday.”
