Martin to make changes as Needham Market visit
Romford boss Paul Martin expects another tough test from Needham Market in Ryman One North tonight.
But having seen his in-form side extend their winning streak to five games with a 3-1 success at Sudbury on Saturday, he says they can approach the Ship Lane clash with confidence.
He said: “Needham Market are probably one of the best footballing sides in the league but anything is possible on the day.
“If we go out with the same attitude, I don’t see any reason why we can’t upset them.
“We didn’t play that well at Sudbury but won 3-1. I don’t think I’ve ever lost there. We won 4-0 one year, drew 2-2 and won 6-3 last year.
“We caught them at the right time but it was our toughest game for six or seven matches. And it was a good coach journey home!”
Martin expects to make changes again this evening, having rested captain Jack Barry at the weekend.
James Ishmail is unavailable due to work commitments and Matt Toms is still sidelined with a hip injury, ahead of a three-match ban for his sending-off at Waltham Abbey.
Martin added: “Jack was carrying a bit of a bruised rib from the game at Soham, but got through Wednesday’s match (against VCD Athletic).
“He was struggling with his breathing, though, when he was jumping for headers so we rested him as a precaution.
“He’ll come back in alongside Scott Truman and we’ll freshen it up again.”
