Boro boss wants players to relax

Romford boss Paul Martin wants his players to start smiling again.

Boro suffered back-to-back 3-0 defeats against Grays and East Thurrock in Ryman One North this week and Martin thinks his men need to relax to return to their best form.

They host Waltham Abbey tomorrow (Saturday), before visiting play-off rivals Enfield Town on Tuesday and Martin wants to turn the frowns upside down.

He said: “We need to try and play with a smile on our faces again.

“We’ve told the boys to relax and not try to think about achieving the impossible.

“The changing room is still ok. We’re not expected to beat East Thurrock. If we had won it would’ve been an upset.

“They’re probably the best side we’ve played this season, with quality all over the park, but that’s what money buys you.

“It’s hard to put a finger on what our problems is. We’ve got the same bunch of players, but it’s getting harder and harder.

“We’ve got a few knocks here and there and James Ishmail (Achilles) has been a big loss.”

Boro won 1-0 at Abbey earlier in the season, but Martin added: “It was a very hard game there when we won, and they won 4-2 at Sudbury, who have been on a good run.

“They’re a very young, very quick side but if we can take a point or three points from that, we’ve then got to try and make sure we don’t slip against against Enfield Town.

“We keep over-achieving and it’s still anyone’s. it will be good if we can pick up a couple of wins in our games in hand and I hope we settle down and start playing our football again.”
