Ryman North: Tilbury 3 Romford 1

Romford manager Paul Martin saw his poor run of results at Chadfields continue with a fifth defeat in seven as in-form Tilbury came from behind to bag all three points.

Boro were looking to bounce back from their FA Trophy exit at the hands of Slough Town and Martin made two changes to his starting line-up, as Luke Stanley and Nick Reynolds came in and George Woodward and Liam Burgess dropped to the bench.

And, after a goalless first half, the visitors broke the deadlock three minutes after the restart as Chinedu McKenzie netted his sixth goal of the season in nine appearances.

Romford’s joy was shortlived, though, as Tony Martin levelled on 62 minutes and Emiel Aiken put Dockers ahead just three minutes later.

Martin sent Burgess on for Connor Goldstone midway through the second half, but Tilbury moved 3-1 up as Jack Carlile beat Michael Gooch.

Burgess had to be replaced by Lee Weemes soon after, as Reynolds made way for Tom Potter, but there was no way back for Boro who visit Waltham Abbey for an Essex Senior Cup third-round tie on Wednesday.

Romford: Gooch, Norris, Stanley, Frew, Cossington, Goldstone (Burgess 68) (Weemes 78), Giddings, Boswell, Reynolds (Potter 78), McKenzie, Marfo.

Unused subs: Taylor, Woodward.
