Martin excited about new campaign

Romford manager Paul Martin says he is “Itching to get back” into the football season.

Boro boss Martin feels his club’s pre-season work is going well but is not resting on his laurels.

He said: “We would like to add three or four more players, but by July 16 I will know my final squad.

Romford have made good progress in Ryman One North in recent seasons, improving their final placing and points tally year on year.

Martin would like to see them pushing for the promotion play-off places in 2014/15, having agreed to remain at the helm for another season.

He added: “If it’s going to be my last season, I want to make it a successful one.“The players are focused and hungry, hopefully with the right attitude and commitment we can have a good campaign.”

Romford play their first pre-season friendly against Eton Manor at Ford Newbury Park on Wednesday, before also facing Saffron Walden (July 19), Barking (July 22), East Thurrock (July 26), Grays (July 27), Cray Valley (July 29), Hoddesdon (July 31) and Frenford (August 2).

Fixtures for the new Ryman League season are due to be released on Monday.
