Rivals look for home comforts

Ryman Premier Division

Hornchurch v Hastings

Urchins were left in the dark when floodlight failure forced the postponement of their derby with Aveley this week.

Jimmy McFarlane’s men were looking to bounce back from a 2-0 defeat at Billericay, but two faulty pylons put paid to those hopes.

Repair work was carried out on Wednesday and McFarlane will be looking for his side to lift the gloom as they try to keep their play-off bid on track.

Urchins have slipped to 11th after taking just one point from a possible nine but are not out of the race yet and host Harrow on Tuesday.

Ryman Division 1N

Romford v Waltham Abbey

Boro will be glad they do not have to visit Rookery Hill again this season.

Beaten 3-0 by Grays last weekend, they returned a few days later to fall by the margin against landlords East Thurrock in midweek.

Manager Paul Martin did not expect to get much from that clash, but is hoping his players can rediscover some of their earlier form and complete a double over Abbey, having won 1-0 at Capershotts earlier in the season.

Boro visit play-off rivals Enfield Town on Tuesday.
