Essex Senior Cup

Romford v Braintree

Boro will be aiming for a county cup giantkilling as Conference outfit Braintree visit Mill Field tonight.

They lie 70 places apart in the non-league pyramid and both sides are looking to bounce back from defeats at the weekend.

Paul Martin’s Romford fell to their fourth loss in five games at Potters Bar, where a lone Bradley Harrison goal was enough to secure the Ryman Division One North points.

Meanwhile Braintree, lying four points off a play-off place in the Conference, went out of the FA Cup after a seven-goal thriller at Newport County in match involving two FA Cup winners.

Ben Wright put Alan Devonshire’s Braintree ahead in Wales, but Sam Foley levelled for Justin Edinburgh’s men before the break, then crossed for Craig McAllister to head the hosts in front after the restart.

Andrew Yiadom squared matters once again, but Nat Jarvis put Newport 3-2 up with 15 minutes left.

Braintree looked to have earned a replay when Kenny Davis curled home from 20 yards in the 86th minute, but Paul Rodgers saw his last-minute effort deflected into the roof of the net.
