Hunt for league points resumes

Saturday

Ryman Premier Division

Hornchurch v Tooting

Urchins got the result their performance deserved at Met Police last weekend.

A 2-0 win, thanks to goals from predators Martin Tuohy and Jo Flack, was much-needed after three successive defeats, but manager Jimmy McFarlane was not panicking.

Hornchurch’s form has been good since the start of the season, but they were just not getting the results.

Six points from five games does not look like the most sparkling start, but they will aim to increase that total against Tooting and Aveley on Monday.

Division 1N

Romford v Cheshunt

Boro are unbeaten in four games and going in the right direction.

But manager Paul Martin is not getting carried away just yet.

His side booked an FA Cup trip to Southend Manor with a 3-2 success over Royston Town last weekend, while Manor were 4-2 winners in a replay with Cheshunt in midweek.

On the face of it, Boro should win 7-4 this weekend then, and judging by how open their games have been so far this term it wouldn’t be the biggest of surprises if they did.

But Martin would settle for a boring 1-0 and another three points.
