Striker Reynolds excited by fixtures release

Romford striker Nick Reynolds admits he cannot wait for the new Ryman North season to begin next month.

Fixtures were released yesterday and Boro will begin their campaign with a trip to Sudbury on August 8, before hosting local rivals Hornchurch in a mouthwatering derby four days later.

Reynolds said: “Obviously the first week of the season is huge for us. We will be the first competitive game on Sudbury’s new pitch followed by a massive local derby against Hornchurch!

“I know fans, players and management will now be buzzing for the season to start and I’m confident we can get off to a good run.

“The games are coming thick and fast now so we will have a better idea in a few weeks about the team, but there’s no reason why we can’t go into the first week of the season and take all six points.

“The only other game that sticks out For me is Thurrock on Boxing Day. Also it’s nice to know that we will be at home on the last game of the season (against Wroxham).”

Romford have played two pre-season friendlies so far, losing 1-0 at home to Billericay last night after beating Clapton by the same margin at the Old Spotted Dog 48 hours earlier.

Reynolds added: “Pre-season so far has been hard, especially as we are trying to get to know a lot of new faces.

“Kate has been putting us through our paces and making us work hard. In terms of the squad it’s still hard to tell who will be in there come the start of the season.

“There are still big numbers at training but I’m sure as we get deeper into pre-season we will know more.”

Bradley Morgan netted the only goal against Essex Senior League outfit Clapton, but Reynolds said: “The game wasn’t great. It’s very hard to play on a pitch like that, but a win in our first game of pre-season is something we can now go and build on.”

Romford visit Essex Olympian League side Frenford tomorrow (Saturday), before travelling to Seven Acre & Sidcup next Thursday (July 23).
