Chairman seeking kit sponsor

Hornchurch chairman Colin McBride is not one to get too shirty.

But the lack of a kit sponsor for Urchins, as they prepare for life in Conference South next season, is starting to get to him.

Jimmy McFarlane’s men gained promotion from the Ryman Premier Division in exciting fashion last month, in front of a 1,411 crowd at Bridge Avenue.

And they are looking forward to new challenges at the higher level.

McBride said: “We’ve not been sitting around doing nothing, we’ve had lots to do, but a shirt sponsor is something that needs to be remedied before the season starts.

“Since we took over, the commercial side is one area we’ve not been too good with, but it’s something we’re looking at.

“We’ve sent letters out to companies, but I’m aware times are tight.

“Hopefully someone out there wants to be associated with a lovely club.”

McBride did not want to put an exact figure on any potential deal, realising different companies will have budgets to reflect their size.

But he would welcome any businesses who might be keen to strike up a partnership with the club.

He added: “There might be a transport company out there, for arguments sake, who might like their name seen all over the south of England.

“We’ll be playing from Cornwall to Dover and with a bit of luck we might get a cup run and the shirts end up on the telly!

“We would like a company to move forwards with us. It’s not a one-way thing, we can do things for them too.

“It’s getting the right person or company, who might be having a vibrant time at the moment.”

Any companies who might be interested in sponsoring Hornchurch can contact McBride on 01708 220080.
