Hornchurch held to a draw at Wingate & Finchley

Hornchurch remain unbeaten in the opening week of the Bostik Premier Division after being held to a 1-1 draw against Wingate & Finchley.

Striker George Purcell got his side off to a tremedous start but his goal was cancelled by a second-half goal from Marc Charles-Smith at Harry Abrahams Stadium.

Purcell poked the ball home from close range to make it 0-1 in the sixth minute after strike partner Sean Marks headed the ball down.

Both sides had their chances but the score remained 0-1 going into the half-time break.

Eight minutes into the second-half the hosts found themselves level as Charles-Smith headed the ball home at the back post to make it 1-1.

Neither side managed to find a winner and both sides came away with a point.

Wingate & Finchley: Gore, Williams, Eadie, Weatherstone, Cronin, Ebelebe (Craddock 66), Ifill, Putman (Laney 71), Charles-Smith (Monsheju 75), Beckles-Richards, Tejan-Sie,
