Urchins face FA Trophy replay
Hornchurch host Harrow in an FA Trophy replay tomorrow night after the two sides battled to a 1-1 draw at the weekend.
Captain Elliot Styles headed Urchins in front against their Ryman Premier Division rivals, from a Jonathan Hunt corner.
But Rickie Hayles had an effort ruled out for offside before half-time and Harrow got back on terms in the 56th minute when Quincey Rowe glanced a Gary Jones free-kick past Joe Woolley.
Neither side could force a winner, with Tambeson Eyong firing a late chance over for Hornchurch, and they will meet again at Bridge Avenue, forcing a delay to Urchins scheduled Essex Senior Cup tie at Thurrock.
The draw for the next round takes place later today (Monday).
Romford, meanwhile, celebrated a 2-0 win over Heybridge Swifts in Ryman Division One North.
The visitors went closest to scoring in the first half, when Tom Broadhurst fired wide shortly before the interval.
And Boro had Elliott Anderson to thank for making a good save before the hour mark, then took the lead when Abs Seymour forced the ball home on 65 minutes.
Paul Martin’s men made sure of the points 10 minutes from time when Paul Kavanagh’s corner reached Addian Clifton at the far post, and he squeezed a header home.
But the hosts had substitute Jahmal Heywood sent off in injury time following an incident with Broadhurst and boss Martin was also given his marching orders.
Victory lifted Boro to eighth in the table as they passed Martin’s Christmas target of 20 points.
