Romford boss rushed to hospital

Romford manager Paul Martin revealed he was ‘a bit scared’ after being rushed into Queen’s Hospital last Friday.

Martin had complained of chest pains and had a series of tests before being discharged to watch his side’s 3-0 home
defeat against Ryman One North rivals Thamesmead.

But speaking yesterday this week, he said: “It was a little bit scary. You think it’s something wrong with your heart and I’m only 34. But I’ve been ill for three or four weeks and it had gone to my chest.

“I had an ECG and blood tests and they wanted to keep me in for the weekend. Touch wood I’m okay now, although I still feel a bit rough and have got to back in for more tests.

“It was a typical last game of the season. We were below-par but we can have a rest now.”

Boro visit Felixstowe on July 30 for a pre-season friendly.
