Inconsistency concerns Martin

Romford might have ended up with the same result, after draws against Soham Town and Thamesmead, in both their Bank Holiday weekend games.

But manager Paul Martin saw performances at opposite ends of the spectrum from his players.

A late Soham goal denied Boro all three points on Saturday, but they needed an injury-time goal from Chuck Duru to get something at Thamesmead two days later.

Martin said: “I wasn’t pleased at all with Saturday. I don’t often walk off with the hump but we were well below-par.

“After the performance we had against Redbridge last week, you’d think we’d be firing on all cylinders, but we didn’t turn up.”

Boro bounced back to give an improved display at Thamesmead, yet found themselves behind as the match went into injury time before Duru’s wonder goal.

Martin added: “I don’t think we’ll see Chuck score another one like that!

“We put a good shift in and didn’t deserve to come away with nothing.”

Boro turn their attentions to the FA Cup this weekend as they host Royston Town at Mill Field on Sunday, with a 1.30pm kick-off.
