Pitches left waterlogged again
Local non-league clubs have been left frustrated by another raft of postponements today.
Hornchurch’s Ryman Premier Division trip to take on Hendon at Harrow Borough’s Earslmead ground was called off due to a waterlogged pitch after a 10.45am inspection.
Redbridge’s Ryman North relegation six-pointer with Cray Wanderers also fell victim due to more pitch problems at troublesome Oakside,
And, following an 11.30am pitch inspection at Ship Lane, Romford’s similarly vital clash with Barkingside was also called off.
In the Essex Senior League, Tower Hamlets saw their trip to leaders Haringey Borough called off due to a waterlogged pitch at the notoriously damp Coles Park, while Sporting Bengal’s home meeting with Waltham Forest at Mile End Stadium has also fallen victim.
Clapton’s home derby with London Bari is unlikely to survive at the Old Spotted Dog, but high-flying Barking are set to take on in-form Stansted at Hargrave Park, where title rivals Haringey fell to a rare defeat in midweek. As of 11.45am there was no news as to whether Ilford’s trip to take on FC Romania at Cheshunt’s Theobalds Lane ground would go ahead.
