Romford captain reflects on beating Ramblers
Romford captain Jack Barry paid tribute to his side after their 4-0 win over Burnham on the first day of the Ryman One North season.
Ryan Imbert struck twice in quick succession at Ship Lane, before Paul Clayton added a third from the penalty spot.
Abs Seymour completed a superb first half for Paul Martin’s men with their fourth goal before half time and Barry said: “It was a fantastic start. I don’t think we could have asked for a better start.
“Everyone was brilliant, I couldn’t fault anybody. In the first half there was a whole load of chances which we should have put away and the boys that had them chances know that as well.
“It could be costly in another game so we need to take our chances when we get them, but it was a great half for us because we got all four goals.”
Burnham were reduced to 10 men early in the second half, but Boro could not cash in with more goals.
Nonetheless Barry hopes such an emphatic win can give them a lift ahead of their midweek trip to Harlow.
He added: “In the second half we kind of lost a bit of a momentum, but we had more than enough chances in that second half to make the scoreline even more comfortable.
“Now we can take all that confidence into Tuesday’s game away to Harlow and that is going to be a tough game and a game that we are more than capable of getting something from.”
